Parallel Paradigm

Location: Ahmedabad
Area: 40,500 sq.ft.
Architect: Vicara design studio
The landscape for twin abodes, situated within a common plot boundary, is envisioned as a delicate balance between shared experiences and individual privacy. While the two homes coexist within a unified setting, the landscape design carefully negotiates the relationship between collective and personal spaces through thoughtful spatial layering and planting.
At the heart of the site lies a shared central courtyard, conceived as a vibrant oasis and an experiential zen space. This courtyard becomes the social and visual anchor for both homes, offering a calm yet lively environment where residents can gather, relax, and connect with nature. Carefully curated planting, shaded seating, and textured ground surfaces enhance the sensory quality of the space, creating a tranquil atmosphere that encourages pause and reflection.
Within each home, smaller private courts extend the living spaces outdoors, seamlessly merging interior and exterior environments. These courts allow light, air, and greenery to permeate the homes while offering intimate pockets of landscape that belong uniquely to each residence.

This landscape project integrates material expression, planting diversity, and spatial rhythm to create a cohesive outdoor experience. The flooring design forms the visual backbone of the space, using a mix of natural stone, mosaic tiles, and grey pavers arranged in geometric and organic patterns. These patterns subtly guide movement, define gathering areas, and establish continuity between built and planted zones.

The courtyard acts as a visual and experiential connector, balancing privacy with harmony through minimal planting, textured stone, and contemplative open space. At the entrance, parking and foyer areas seamlessly merge with greens and subtle water highlights. The overall design creates a calm, refined outdoor experience that enhances both homes collectively and individually.
